Airtel has announced a new offer under which it offers free data for 12 months to customers who switch to Airtel 4G. The 12-month offer is available to people who are not currently using Airtel 4G. Hence, once they switch to Airtel's 4G services, they will get this offer. The existing Airtel consumers too can avail this offer if they switch to a new 4G handset or in other words, a new number. As part of Airtel's offer, customers will get free 3GB data every month till December 31, 2017 and there are select prepaid and post-paid packs that are covered under this offer.
Airtel's offer is not giving free data. It is only giving 4GB data, which is very generous by the way, for Rs 345 instead of 1GB.
Prepaid users will have to recharge with Rs 345 to avail 4GB data every month till December 31, 2017. Out of this "free data", 1GB is the regular data benefit and the 3GB is the "free data". Also the "free data packs" can be availed for a maximum of 13 recharges till December 31, 2017.
So, in other words, Airtel's offer is not giving free data. It is only giving 4GB data, which is very generous by the way, for Rs 345 instead of 1GB.
I wish better luck to Airtel and hopefully it should come up with a plan at par with Jio and stop fooling customers by putting different conditions under asterisk mark. Airtel can give competition to Jio but it doesn't wants to lessen it's profit margin .
